Seniors Power Volleyball Team to Undefeated Season

The MACA Lions volleyball seniors starred in a night where they were honored before the game. They led the way to a 25-18, 19-25, 25-18, and 25-18 win over the Rosedale Panthers to secure a second consecutive regular season undefeated.

“We have put a lot of time into this season,” senior Kylie DesLauriers said. “We are leaving everything out there on the court and pushing ourselves to be the best we can be as seniors.”

The game started out with some back and forth between the Lions and Panthers. The teams split the first two sets, however, the third set started with an 11-2 run for the Lions and they never looked back.

“It was a little bit more tense with tonight being senior night there was a little bit of skittishness and anxiety to make sure we got the win,” coach David Blair said. “In that second set we had a lot of unforced errors, and they cleaned it up right off the rip and it snowballed for us from there.”

Seniors Julia Bowen and DesLauriers combined to score 39 kills (20 and 19 each) which was the driving factor to lead the Lions to the victory. DesLauriers’ 19 kills are added to her school record to bring her to 654 total kills.

“I’m just so grateful to my team, DesLauriers said, “Because I wouldn’t be able to be the team kills leader without them passing and setting the ball up for me. It’s all just based on my team.”

The Lions will look to continue their win streak in the conference championships starting on Thursday, Oct 21.

“I’m really proud of them,” Blair said. “This is the second season that we have gone undefeated in the regular season, and I’m expecting big things for the conference championships.”
