11 years with MACA soccer.

What is it like being a senior on the team?

It’s been really cool. There are only three seniors on the team this year so a lot of leadership has been given to us. It has been cool to mentor the younger players and lead them through the season by example. Showing underclassmen how to hustle and be the best you can.

What has soccer meant to you?

Soccer provided a lot of friendships and allowed me to get close people. There is probably a lot of people that I would not have gotten to know at all without having played soccer.

Favorite memory:

Our first game against Perry Hall we were down 2-1 and we managed to score two goals to come back and win it was a lot of fun.

Alex Moore

First year of soccer.

What is it like being a senior on the team?

It’s been interesting. Usually, the younger players will look up to you because you’re more experienced but I think I have learned a lot more from the younger people on this team. It’s cool to see where they are coming from.

What has soccer meant to you?

It’s nice to get active and get in shape. It helps teach me discipline and shows me how to learn from others while teaching at the same time.

Favorite memory:

The bus rides were fun to talk with the team and get closer and get to really know them.

Ryan Ott

Two years with MACA soccer.

What is it like being a senior on the team?

There are a lot more leadership expectations with being a senior. Being a captain this year you have to be the example and step up. You have to keep the guys moving forward and be the backbone of the team.

What has soccer meant to you?

My family recently adopted and my adoptive brother loves soccer so that’s what got me into it. I joined the team and played with him and it has been a good bonding agent for my brother and me. It helps us grow closer together and our relationship is so much better now.

Favorite memory:

At our last game (Sept. 24 vs Perry Hall) even though we lost, I had the opportunity to encourage one of my younger teammates and afterward, he emailed me saying how much it meant to him. It was one of those moments where you knew you were helping them keep their heads up and it was encouraging to him and it helped me to recognize I am doing something to help.
