March Student Athletes of the Month

MACA March Student Athletes of the Month

Molly Kichline, Sophomore, Varsity Girls Soccer

Molly Kichline is a player who volunteered to play one of the toughest positions on a soccer team. As a first time goalie, she improves game after game. Coach Kirsten Webster states, “Molly is coachable, learns quickly and is fearless. All great qualities for a player taking on the goalie position for the first time.”  Molly is averaging over 10 saves a game. She is an exciting player to watch for the 2018 Lady Lions soccer team.

Stephen Rice, Senior, Varsity Baseball

Stephen Rice paced the Lions with a 2-0 record on the mound in the month of March. His two starts were highlighted by an 11 strikeout performance against Key in which he went 4 shutout innings. “Stephen has been a leader for our team for several years now. It’s great to see him start his senior season excelling on the mound and leading the team to two early season victories,” stated Coach Matt Brethauer. In the first three games of the season at the plate, Stephen has hit a double, a triple and drove in 2 runs for the Lions.

Rose Tobery, 7th Grade, Middle School Girls Track and Field

Rose is one of the most committed athletes on the team. She is always at practice and ready to work. She never complains.  Coach Woolverton says, “Rose has a sweet demeanor and great work ethic! We are thrilled to have her as part of MACA’s Track and Field team.”

Grayson Cook, 8th Grade, Middle School Boys Track and Field

Grayson has spent the early track season committed to training and working hard. He always has a great attitude and never skimps on a workout. He can be found working out on his own time quite frequently as well. He leads the team by example on and off the field. Coach Woolverton states, “Grayson is a great listener and learner, he is always striving to be better. I am looking forward to seeing how his work ethic pays off in competition.”
